MY MOM Said what???

So in a recent conversation with my mom.....................

It went like this

Mom:  "So I met this guy and his name is Jim Egan, so I told him my name is Kay Egan"
Me:  "Interesting, how old of a guy is he?"
Mom:  "He's Married!"
Me:  "You don't say! How old of a guy do you think he is?"
Mom:  "He's Married!"
Me:  "Yeah, I got that.  How old do you think he is?"
Mom: (louder and slower now) "H E ' S   M A R R I E D!"
Me:  "Yes Mom, I heard, but I'm asking how old he is"
Mom: (even more louder and slower) "H E ' S M A R R I E D!"
Me: "Yes, I'm married too, I don't care - I just wanted to know how old he is because I know someone named Jim Egan and I thought it might be the same guy"
Mom:  Oh, well this guy is "MARRIED"!

(This could go on all night)

We've been busy

Sorry - you have probably noticed we've been too busy to post lately.  My Father-In-Law has been ill, so we have been spending some time in Florida with him.

Check out this article on his clinic (this is not him in the photo).  http://www.wpmobserver.com/news/2010/sep/15/acupuncture-clinic-offers-relief/

Grilling Time

Try these potatoes on the grill - you will never bake again!

Grilled Herbed Potatoes:

YUM! by Vermont Villager

Scrub your potatoes good,
but leave the skin on them.

Cut them into wedges (we usually do six wedges)

Take a square of Aluminum foil and place a piece of parchment paper on top.

Take your wedges and place them on the paper.

Spritz with Olive Oil (if you don't have a sprayer, you can use a pad of butter).

Cut some fresh herbs if you have them or you can use dried herbs and spices.

I use Parsley, chives, rosemary and cilatro and a bit of salt and pepper.

Wrap them up tight in foil and put them on the back of the grill off the direct flame but where it's nice and warm.

Roll them every fifteen minutes so they don't burn on the outside and make sure to
cook for a good hour.

(You can speed this process up if you microwave your baking potatoes first).

SCRUB A DUB

It's that time of the year, when your skin is dry, but it's almsot short weather.  Time to scrub up!  You can buy salt scrubs for $30, or you can make your own salt scrubs at home for a fraction of the cost. Salt scrubs are one of the easiest home spa products to make -- and a great gift if you put it in a pretty jar.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:
•1/2 cup oil. Use sweet almond, grapeseed or another light-textured massage oil. Don't use simple cooking oil from your pantry.

•1 cup fine sea salt. Baleine is a good choice. Don't use simple iodized table salt -- it's too harsh. If you have sensitive skin you can substitute sugar, which is gentler.

•5-15 drops high quality essential oils. The essential oil you choose for your salt scrub depends on the result you want. Lavender is relaxing, lemongrass is refreshing and rosemary is stimulating. You can experiment and do your own blend.

Preparation:

Put the salt (or sugar) in a small bowl.

Add the oil, mixing well with a spoon or wooden stick. The texture should be moist enough to hold together, but not overly oily. You can adjust the amount of oil to achieve that texture.

Gently tap in the drops of essential oil and combine well. If you get more interested in aromatherapy you can customize your recipe using different essential oils.

So now you're ready to use your home-made salt scrub -- once a week is plenty. Here's how to give yourself a salt scrub at home.

This recipe should get you through three salt scrubs.

Mysti watches TV

My dog sees TV in color - cartoons and all.
She loves Dogs, cats and elephants the most.
But.... She cannot see dogs in black and white, go figure.
She also loves the Febreeze commericals, they whistle in the commercial and a dog makes a brief apperance.

After the dogs leave the screen she runs around looking behind the walls for the dogs that ran off.

I wonder what she's thinking?

Got Ghillies??

Ghillies are Irish Step Dancin Shoes!   Which would be perfect for the Saw Doctors Concert, if I had them.  I don't.  Just as well, you feet get stepped on at these concerts - alot!

Missed the show at HOB in Boston due to work (not a complaint - just a statement).   So my sisters and I caught  the show at The Calvin Theater in Northampton MA.  A great venue  for the show offering both seated theater seats and a dance floor!  The show was great as usual and I hope while they are on this side of the pond, you get a chance to see them for yourself!  Always a good time, and great to meet new "SD" Friends!
The theme of the show was was definately newer music from the newest unreleased album.  But they hit the stage at 8:00 pm with "Will It Ever Stop Raining?" appropriate given the weather!  This song from the 98 album "Songs from Sun Street".
The Doctors worked in a number songs from their as-yet untitled new album,  but managed to get the loyal fans in the crowd moving with many classic tunes, like "Never Mind the Strangers," "Green and Red of Mayo," "Clare Island" and "N-17," which tells the story of an Irish emigrant longing to be on the road back home.

ZUMBA

ZZZZUUMMMBBA!

So a friend from work mentioned the class and I thought I would check it out!

This dance class was founded by a young columbian man in the 90's and everything old is new again.  Yes, we started with aerobics, dance aerobics, jazzercize and I would be remiss to forget Tae-bo or Tae-boxing.  Now it's Zumba!

I loved it!  I loved the music and the energy and it helps if you have a great instructor - which I did!

Check it out near you!

It's That Time O' Year Again - Mallomars are a controlled Substance

It's true!  I LOVE these things and have a hard time putting the box away with any cookies still in the box.  Ask my friend Jamie.  He bought me 10 boxes one Christmas - we won't go there...........

But I want you to check out this blog, it's all true! They only produce Mallomars in the cooler Winter months - probably because the chocolate is so sensitive.

Read on and enjoy ! It's winter!

HAWAII!!!

Yep, we've been traveling!

We spent a week in Kauai, then moved onto Oahu and beautiful Waikkiki beach in Honolulu. Amazing Trip! So as not to bore your shorts off, I will add just a few photos each day.

We start on the lovely beach of Paholie.   This is basically where the road ends and the lovely NaPoli Coast of Kauai begins!  You have to travel 5 miles in on an all dirt road - best served by a four-wheel drive vehicle. But totally worth the drive!!!

Kauai  is known as the Garden Isle!  You can see why.  Flowers and lush vegetation everywhere! Check out this huge tree.
Okay, maybe to scale you can see how big this tree really is!
We spent a great day on the beach but getting into the water was probably not a good idea.

check out these waves!  Even the surfers took the day off!

Enough for now - don't worry, I have hundreds more!
